The supporter is a crowned lion, symbolizing England, and the sinister is a unicorn, symbolizing Scotland. The British Coat of Arms also features the motto of British monarch Dieu et mon droit, meaning 'God and my right', and the motto of the Order of the Garter Honi Soit qui mal y pense, 'Shamed be he who thinks ill of it.'
